The SAS Imaging Dall-Kirkham is a precision astrograph, designed for the most discerning astronomer and professional observers. Its catadioptric design delivers class leading correction and sharpness over its entire field of view. All IDK series telescopes feature 100% Made in USA fused silica quartz mirrors, and ground Ohara S-BSL 7 glass lenses. This 4 element optical train is housed in an ultra-rigid carbon fibre truss tube chassis, minimizing weight, flexure, and thermal expansion.
IDK telescopes are built to support a wide range of accessories and imaging trains. With an easy to swap back-plate, they can support any focuser. The integrated piggyback Losmandy dovetail allows for the mounting of auxilliaries such as computers, guide systems, or smaller telescopes.
All SAS reflecting telescopes are compatible with the SAS Temperature Control System 2.0 (TCS 2.0). This plug and play control unit offers precise tuning of telescope optics, keeping all elements clear of dew and frost, as well as reduced focus shift caused by temperature change.
